We are Karin & Paul.
We met and became great friends whilst working together in a saddlery in the UK.
When the opportunity arose, in 2005, to buy a horse-farm in remote central Hungary, we decided to move together - with our horses, a concert grand piano (mine, I refused to leave England without it!), and the entire saddlery workshop!
We actually now spend most of our lives in the workshop, accompanied by the workshop cats!
Paul has been a working saddler (specialising in custom bridles) for 19 years, working in the UK and Germany. He has made bridlework for a variety of customers, from European Champion to Happy Hacker.
I started training with Paul, and love spending time in the workshop.
I especially like designing and making custom browbands - which is what this website is really all about.
I also handle all the business administration and deal with customer enquiries. I divide my time between the UK and Hungary - leaving the workshop (and the many animals, mostly rescues, who are resident here) in the capable hands of Paul whilst I visit my family and my UK home. I always find time on my visits to accept invitations from customers to visit them, deliver orders, advise on tack-fitting and do the odd repairs. I travel with tools!
We only use the finest English leather for all our saddlery. Everything we need to make our browbands and saddlery is shipped out here for us from the UK.
All the beads and stones I use in the browbands are sourced from the best UK suppliers. I especially love faceted Czech glass beads and Czech glass pearls. The semi-precious stones we use are the highest quality and sourced from around the world by my UK suppliers.
ALL items which we make are entirely hand-made from start to finish. There are no machines in the workshop, everything, from cutting to stitching, is done by hand.
Each browband can take as long as two days to make. They are individual, and each one is made with great care, to the exact requirements of the customer.
Paul is known for his love of stitching intricate patterns, monograms, names, etc, on browbands, bridles and other saddlery, using 16 tiny stitches to the inch. He has extreme patience and talent! Having a browband with your horse’s name stitched on it is no problem for him.
